PerusCD

Finland on PerusCD

The PerusCD includes a basic map at 1:20 000 scale in raster form. Each disc contains a dataset package for one province, i.e. approximately 300 map sheets. The PerusCD is a convenient way of handling large amounts of basic map data.

Familiar printed basic map on screen

The PerusCD includes the planimetric details, fields and waters of the basic map in the familiar cartographic style of the printed map. As the thematic elements are stored in separate files, you can select the themes and colours yourself. The cartographic representation of the map sheets updated in 1996 has been further developed for the Basic CD to meet the requirements of on-screen working. As well as the basic maps, each CD contains a province-specific overview map at scales 1:400 000 and 1:1 mill. and a general map of Finland at 1:8 mill. scale. Base map features printed in black are also available as a separate PohjaCD. Contour lines and cadastral boundaries are not included in the PerusCD.

Map base for planning

The basic map is used frequently as a map base in planning, such as in regional and network planning and in forestry. Planning work can now be done on screen using the familiar basic map.

Compatible with most systems

The Basic CD can be used on an ordinary personal computer fitted with a CD-ROM drive, or it may be integrated into a larger computer system. The information on the Basic CD is stored and filed in a standardized form (ISO 9660).
