Depth data and information on maritime safety provided by the Finnish Transport Agency (FTA) to the topographic database will be deleted from all topographic data products made available to the public.
Such information include:
of sea areas and the largest lakes.
The information will be deleted from the products to be made available, as it is incorporated in the FTA’s data and will not be opened to the public. The information on waterways provided by the FTA remains in the topographic database also after the data is made available.
Depth data of smaller lakes will remain in the data to be made available also in the future. The data is delivered to the Topographic database by the Finnish Environment Institute.
The information on depth and aids to navigation provided by the FTA is found in the following vector and raster products:
After 1 May 2012 topographic data products including the FTA’s information on depth and aids to navigation can only be used during the validity period of the licence. These products will not be maintained or sold after being made available. They will be replaced with versions provided with free rights of use that will no longer include the FTA’s information on depth and aids to navigation.
Information on depth and aids to navigation of sea areas and the largest lakes maintained by the FTA will in future be available from the FTA’s interface service. For official, research, educational, planning and building purposes as well as for the welfare of the public the information will still be provided free of charge.
