A tenure track professorship is a procedure for making a position permanent. It is widely used in universities and numerous research institutes. After the three-year term, an intermediate evaluation is carried out. After that, the tenure track professor can be offered en extension of the professorship.

The tenure track is a versatile system of many stages. It helps the research institute to offer an overview of a researcher's work and a professor's obligations. When successful, it produces benefits for fresh researchers, the research institute and the entire research field.
