Map products

The basic map is an appropriate guide for everyone on the road or in the wild. It also provides a basis for other maps, for instance, specific outdoor maps that allow the users to go hiking or orienting in the terrain. For those skilled in the art the basic map is a suitable aid for making plans.

The topographic map 1:50 000 gives a more general picture of the ground features than the basic map. The topographic map is an ideal complement to nautical charts as it provides detailed information about the terrain, since all Finnish sea areas are covered by 1:50 000 topographic map sheets.

Digital map products provided by the National Land Survey of Finland (NLS) are included in national basic products. The NLS produces such products for authorities and citizens requiring basic maps. The NLS printed maps and map printouts are also provided using digital map data.
