Four options presented in the National Land Survey's service point report

The service point survey reviewed options for the future service point network of the National Land Survey. The report is based on a strategic discussion between the National Land Survey and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, held last autumn. In the discussion, it was agreed to carry out a study regarding the development of the service point network and the cost-savings efforts.

The report, which is now complete, describes the current state of the National Land Survey's service network and examines four different alternative models. The models examined are the current model, the regional centre model, the regional centre model supplemented by some service points, and the service point and office model, in which the previous model has been supplemented so that the National Land Survey has premises in the locations that currently have a service point.

“We examined four models because that way, we were able to introduce the effects of the different options in a variety of ways. The models provide a basis for a further survey and, in time, actual decision-making,” says NLS deputy director general Petri Korpinen, who headed the service point survey team.

In the report, all four models are examined through the same criteria. The criteria were: finances, personnel, customers, digitalisation, language legislation and sustainability. The effects on these criteria were studied for each model. In addition, the Ministry of Finance's service network and facility project as well as future recruitment and competence needs were taken into account.

Decisions will be made later

Next, the National Land Survey will continue to consider the matter as part of the economic rebalancing and cost savings efforts. The decision may also be completely different than the options presented in the report.

The National Land Survey currently has 35 service points and three offices.

The report is available upon request from the National Land Survey's registry office.
