Information about scam messages

It is possible that scam messages are sent in the name of the National Land Survey. The messages attempt to scam our customers to provide their online bank access codes or credit card information. The National Land Survey will never request your online bank access codes.

This is how we contact our customers

The National Land Survey can contact you in several different ways: by phone, e-mail, text message or suomi.fi-message. Our contacts are generally related to pending matters, such as processing your application or a cadastral survey.

The e-mail addresses used by the National Land Survey always end in maanmittauslaitos.fi or nls.fi. We will send messages containing personal data or confidential information as encrypted e-mail via the service Turvaviesti. In those cases, the e-mail will be sent from the address noreply@maanmittauslaitos.fi. The e-mail contains a link to the encrypted e-mail system.

If you use Suomi.fi Messages, you will receive a message from the service when the National Land Survey has sent an e-mail to you. The message does not contain any links.

We do not request invoices in PDF format from our partners. Our partners send their invoices to the National Land Survey as agreed in the contract, generally as e-invoices.

Next steps if you have received a scam message

  • Do not open attachments or click on any links and do not give your personal information to any website if you suspect its authenticity.
  • If you suspect that you have received a scam message in the name of the National Land Survey, notify your contact person at the agency or our customer service.
  • If your online bank access codes or credit card information has fallen into the wrong hands, contact your bank or credit card issuer immediately to inactivate your bank codes or credit card. After that, submit a crime report to the police.
