The Geospatial Metadata Catalogue Paikkatietohakemisto

Paikkatietohakemisto is a national geospatial metadata catalogue maintained by the National Land Survey of Finland. In the service data producers can create and publish metadata for their spatial datasets and services. Standardised metadata enables spatial data to be found, compared, and utilized.

Paikkatietohakemisto is intended for creating metadata for all spatial datasets and services, not only for INSPIRE datasets and services.

You can also search for metadata published in the Spatial Data Catalogue, for example via the metadata search in the Paikkatietoikkuna service, as the catalogue’s interface service is used in information search services such as Paikkatietoikkuna, the Avoindata.fi service, and the European data portal.

If you create metadata in Paikkatietohakemisto, you will need login credentials. You can request them by emailing metatieto@maamittauslaitos.fi. At the same time, please indicate which municipality, organization, or similar entity’s metadata you maintain.
