Potential changes in cadastral survey charges at the beginning of next year

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is currently preparing a new decree on charges for cadastral surveys, which would enter into force at the beginning of 2024. The new decree on charges would supersede the previous decree which entered into force at the beginning of 2023 and was originally issued for two years.

This year, the general cost level has increased more than expected, which is why the current prices of cadastral surveys are no longer sufficient to cover the associated costs. As a result, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is preparing the new decree.

Everyone considering to submit an application should note that charges may change at the beginning of next year. A fixed-price cadastral survey is charged from the customer according to the price list valid on the day on which the survey application was received by the NLS. Fixed-price cadastral surveys include parcelling, private road surveying, partitioning and demarcation.

The prices of the National Land Survey of Finland (NLS) are cost prices. This means that they cover the associated costs but do not generate any profit. These prices will remain valid for one or two years, depending on the decree on charges applied.
