Digital photogrammetry

The goal of digital photogrammetry is to establish the geometric relationship between an object and a digital image and derive information about the object strictly from the image. By the use of digital photogrammetry, mapping, map updating and 3D city models are processed.

At the Finnish Geodetic Institute, the focus areas in digital photogrammetry are

  • direct georeferencing
  • the use of digital photogrammetric cameras in mapping
  • radiometric calibration of digital aerial images
  • extraction of building outlines
  • integration of laser scanning and photogrammetry
