3D data management and visualization
The goal of the project is create new methods for the management and visualisation of 3D geospatial information. The 3D models are for example Digital Elevation Model (DEM), Digital Surface Model (DSM) and Digital Object Model. The DEM research primarily focuses on airborne laser data derived high accuracy models. The DSM models include objects on top of the surface in addition to the altitude variation. These objects are such as photorealistically reconstructed buildings, trees, whose height and location are known, or roads that are adjusted to the DEM surface. The project is carried out in Nuuksio test environment that is maintained for next generation GI application research purposes.
