The objective of the project is to develop techniques and algorithms for autonomous driving on snow-covered terrain. Special focus is on multi-sensoral localization techniques using modified high-resolution probabilistic maps and mapping algorithms using advanced sensor technologies. The outcomes of this project can be used for SWOT analysis of autonomous driving, especially to study both current and future technological limitations and possibilities in autonomous driving in Finnish conditions. FGI is currently co-operating with more than 90 organisations in the area of autonomous driving.
