A national cybersecurity exercise has been organised since 2013. The National Land Survey of Finland has participated in the exercises in three years. The goals of the exercise are the training and development of cooperation between authorities, the development of a situational overview and the related sharing of information, as well as the training and development of crisis communication.

It is important for the National Land Survey of Finland to maintain its cybersecurity expertise in the current situation and operating environment. During the exercises, we receive valuable information about how our practices and cooperation work and what to develop, and the exercise provides certainty for possible real-life situations, says Virva Autio, Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Cooperation between units, situation management, technical investigation, as well as working with other authorities and safety communication are also practiced in the exercise.

The national cyber exercises are organised by the JYVSECTEC (Jyväskylä Security Technology) research, development and education centre at the IT Institute of the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The Security Committee also participates in the implementation of the exercises in a steering role.
