Maps updated through crowdsourcing this summer
The National Land Survey is testing crowdsourcing as a means of collecting map data. The pilot project is an attempt to test whether the observations of individual users can be used to improve the updating frequency of topographic data. Information is collected using a test version of the social mapping service Karttakerttu.

Metrology training in Egypt
The National Land Survey's Research Manager Jorma Jokela held training sessions in June for the management and employees of the length standards laboratories at the National Institute of Standards (NIS) in Giza, Egypt. The purpose of the week-long course was to offer specialist assistance for the start of calibration services related to surveying in Egypt.
