New techniques in active remote sensing: hyperspectral laser in environmental change detection
This project brings up novel spectroscopic and radiometric laser scanning methods to be applied in the change detection of the Boreal environment. Accurate reflectance measurements are needed in the monitoring of forest vegetation and snow, which are important indicators in environmental and climate change processes. Systematic calibration for laser scanner intensity and new methods for the use of groundbreaking technology of spectral laser measurement are being developed and their first applications to snow/forest remote sensing have already been introduced. This kind of approach calls for advanced experimental methods, which are possible because of the long-term experience in laser laboratory methods in the research group and the FGI laser experts.
