Landmark ontology for wayfinding in nature

Landmark concepts collected in empirical nature route studies were taken to a formal landmark ontology. The ontology contains nature landmarks and their relationships with regard to seasons and times of day in a formal description that can be used for building context-sensitive navigators to be used in nature. Landmarks in the ontology represent primarily Nordic forested recreational environments from a hiker's perspective.
